The newly organized Santa Clara Vallery Deanery has developed an initial list of priorities for actions and activities they and member churches can use in the coming year. This list is provided to get your feedback.

Service/Outreach

1. Santa Maria Urban Ministry

Worship/Music

1. U2 Eucharist (Acts as a fundraiser for AIDS or hunger)
2. Webpage for sharing liturgical/music materials
• best practices & alternative worship materials

Evangelism

1. Support for existing missions in deanery
2. Coordination of communication within deanery and to outside media sources
• Advertise a seminar as a group
• Public relations
• increase positive news of TEC
• educating the wider community about the beliefs for the Episcopal faith
• Connecting evangelism with world mission
• Get in the news
• Show others there are other churches besides the fundamentalists & Catholics
• Our strength is our willingness to confront tough issues
• Coordination of evangelism to the unchurched
• Day long end-of-life; Alpha; Via Media
• Leverage outreach to attract professionals in the Bay Area who are unchurched

Education

1. Create a deanery-wide adult education program to augment parish programs & include any of the following as desired:
• Lay training
• "Seeking a Shepard" as used for preparation for ECR bishop search
• Bible Study
• EFM

• Purpose Driven Church
• New Beginnings/Happenings/Vocare/Cursillo
• Also youth
• Disciples
• Alpha/Youth Alpha
• Training for laity -- seminary offering and on-line
• Faith Formation
• Scholarships/financial aid for programs
• C.A.L.L. - local programs

• Retreats
• Community forums on topics of religions leadership:

1. Estate planning workshops for parishioners and parish trainers
2. Creative parish fund raising for local mission/ministry by the deanery:
• Church change container by the door - loose change collection
• "Spirit dollar" or "Hallelujah dollar" collection each week
  (pass the plate twice!)
3. Border's/Chili's Deanery night out
• invite friends and non-Episcopalians to participate with us
