Robert & Clara Schumann - and Brahms! A 'triangle' of trio &
quartets. |
|
|
|
Robert SCHUMANN: Piano Quartet in E Flat Major, Op.47 (1842):
Unsurpassed in Romantic fervor and beauty. Premiered by wife Clara on piano.
Clara SCHUMANN: Piano Trio in G Minor, Op.17 (1846):
Charming, well-crafted
and straight-forward, with interesting rhythmns and fresh modulations.
Johannes BRAHMS: Piano Quartet in C Minor, Op.60, "Werther" (1854-56,
1874): Hear in it the turmoil and despair Brahms felt over fidelity
to Robert... and deep affection for Clara.
Pianist Gwendolyn Mok is Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at San Jose State
University, leading authority on and interpreter of Ravel, and has
performed as soloist with The London Philharmonic, The Philharmonia, the
New York Philharmonic and others.
Violinist William Barbini is concertmaster of the Monterey Symphony,
Music Director of the Chamber Music Society of Sacramento, and teaches
at CSU-Sacramento and SF Conservatory of Music.

Francisco Opera Orchestra and of the Marin Symphony - and regular performer
with the SF Symphony and Ballet Orchestras.
Cellist Thalia Moore is Associate Principal with the
San Francisco Opera Orchestra
and a member of the SF Ballet Orchestra, and has been soloist at Avery
Fischer Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall and the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater.
