Service of Compline
Saint Luke's music department presents the service of Compline
in the evening on the second Sunday of each month. Through February 2008 the
service is at 9 p.m., changing to 8 p.m. starting in March 2008.
Compline, a service of psalms and prayers
has been sung 'at the close of day' in monasteries, convents and churches
for many centuries and is one of the best-loved services of the Church.
It has been re-instituted in many communities in response to the
renewed interest in plainsong (Gregorian Chant)
and contemplative prayer.
There is no sermon.
A major element of the service is an extended period of silence.

The Saint Luke's parish presents a series of short concerts performed by guest artists who share their music with the community in the beautiful setting of Saint Luke's Church. A freewill admission charge, $10 suggested, is collected.
