Service of Compline

Saint Luke's music department presents the service of Compline in the evening on the second Sunday of each month. The service is at 8 pm and lasts about one-half hour.

Compline, a service of psalms and prayers has been sung 'at the close of day' in monasteries, convents and churches for many centuries and is one of the best-loved services of the Church. It has been re-instituted in many communities in response to the renewed interest in plainsong (Gregorian Chant) and contemplative prayer. There is no sermon.

A major element of the service is an extended period of silence.
